NOTICE OF PROPOSED CONVEYANCE
OF UNITED METHODIST CHURCH PROPERTY
(Mercy Chapel United Methodist Church)

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will, on or after December 21, 2023 QUITCLAIM, GRANT AND CONVEY to the Trustees of Mercy Chapel all of their right, title, and interest, in and to those certain tracts or parcels of land situate in Montrose Corp. District, Randolph County, West Virginia, and more particularly bounded and described as follows, to-wit:

PARCEL ONE
BEGINNING at a stake on the road bank a corner to Methodist Church lot thence with the road N. 52 1/2 W. 5 poles to corner at intersection of roads thence with the hard surface road lot S. 9* E. 4 1/2 poles to a stake S. 41 3/4 W. 2 poles to the beginning containing, sixteen square rods more or less.

And being the same property conveyed from S.B. Poe etux to the Trustees of the Montrose Methodist Church by Deed dated September 12, 1944 and recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County Commission of Randolph County, West Virginia in Deed Book 157, at Page 509, reference of which is hereby made.

PARCEL TWO
BEGINNING at a stake on a dirt road adjacent to the Montrose school property running N. 52 1/2* W. 20 feet to a stake at the junction of the Poe lot thence N. 41 1/2* East 33 feet to a stake, thence following the Poe line N. 9* W. 74 1/2 feet to a stake on the improved highway, thence following the improved highway N. 55 1/2* East 100 feet to a stake thence S. 34 1/2* East 100 feet to a stake on the Montrose School property, on the Montrose school property/thence S. 54 1/2* W. 160 feet to the beginning stake. The above described property contains 10,000 feet, more or less.

And being the same property conveyed from Board of Education of Randolph County to Trustees of the Montrose Methodist Church by Deed dated November 16, 1944 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 160, at Page 11, reference to which is hereby made.

SAID Mercy Chapel United Methodist Church was declared closed effective November 11, 2023 by a vote of a majority of the District Superintendents of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
