Monongahela National Forest Proposes Changes to Recreation Fees
Monongahela National Forest proposes changes to recreation fees at developed recreation sites, such as campgrounds, cabins and picnic shelters, across the Forest. Visit https://www.fs.usda.gov/mnf to review a list of proposed fee changes.
Eighty percent of recreation fee revenue remains on the Monongahela to operate, maintain, and improve facilities. This revenue helps to provide quality recreation opportunities today and creates a more financially sustainable recreation program for the benefit of future generations.
The public is invited to comment on these proposed fee changes. Mail comments to: Attn: W.J. Cober, Monongahela National Forest, 200 Sycamore Street, Elkins WV 26241 or email them to https://www.fs.usda.gov/contactus /mnf/about-forest/contactus. Comments may also be provided online at https://arcg.is/0HnOnX, or visit a Monongahela National Forest office to fill out a comment card. The comment period ends July 31, 2024.
After the comment period ends, proposed fee changes will be reviewed by a Resource Advisory Committee, who will submit their recommendation to the Regional Forester for a final decision. Committee members represent a broad array of interest groups to help ensure that the Forest Service is proposing reasonable and publicly acceptable new fees and fee changes. Approved fee changes would not take effect until summer 2025.
