Notice is hereby given that Douglas Coal Company, PO Box 230, Old Route 219 N, Elkins, WV 26241, has a permit on file with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the surface mining of approximately 216 acres and has submitted an application to the DEP, 47 School Street, Suite 301, Philippi, WV 26416-1600, for the renewal of Article 3 Permit Number S200708 to operate a coal surface mine in the Upper Sewell and Lower Sewell seam of coal.
The operation is discharging into Laurel Run and Roaring Creek of Tygart Valley River, and is located 2.7 miles southeast of Mabie in Roaring Creek, Beverly, District of Randolph County, Longitude 79 deg 56′ 30″, and Latitude 38 deg 51′ 0″ (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map)
Surface of the area is associated herewith is owned by: Penn-Virginia Resource Partners, LP, 2550 East Stone Drive, Kingsport, TN 37666, and the mineral associated herewith is owned by: Christopher J. Polino, PO Box 230, Elkins, WV 26241.
Written comments and/or requests for an informal conference of the permit renewal application shall identify the applicant and application number and will be received by the Permit Supervisor at the DEP address above until August 19, 2024, or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication.
