PUBLIC NOTICE (Class II Legal advertisement)
The WV Asthma & Allergy Center located at 418 Grand Park Drive PMC, Building III Suite 326, Parkersburg, WV 26105 in Wood County is applying to the West Virginia Infectious Medical Waste Program, located at Office of Environmental Health Services, 350 Capital Street, Room 313, Charleston, WV 25301-3713, for a permit to operate as an infectious Medical Waste Generating Facility. Using accepted safety procedures, our regulated waste, consisting of syringes and needles used for allergy testing and injections, will be placed in approved portable Sharps Containers, that are closable, constructed to contain all contents and prevent puncture or leakage, color coded red, and Biohazard labeled. Filled Sharps Containers are closed, sealed and deposited for storage, in larger, Biohazard marked containers approved for transportation. These large containers are stored in isolated, locked, Biohazard marked area with access limited to approved staff only. A Licensed Infectious Waste Disposal Company picks up these containers once a month for final disposal per state and federal regulations.
To comply with state regulations, the Infectious Medical Waste Rule, 64CSR56 requires the allergy practice to submit this notice of application through the Office of Environmental Health Services that also holds a comment period that will last 30 days from the first date published.
The following is an estimate of the waste generated at the facility: Sharps 50 to 80 lbs. per month

There have not been any previous notices here relating to an infectious medical waste permit.
Any interested person may submit a written request for a public hearing within 30 days of the first publication of this public notice. Copies of the Application will be available at the Wood County Courthouse, Wood County Public Library in Parkersburg WV, and at the office of the Secretary of Health and Human Services. The request must contain a concise statement as to the nature of issues raised. The Secretary shall conduct a public hearing in Kanawha County, within forty-five days from whenever the request is received.
If any data, information or arguments submitted during the public comment period raise substantial new questions concerning this matter, the Secretary shall request additional information from the applicant and reopen or extend the public comment period for thirty days to give ample opportunity to comment on the information submitted.
