NOTICE OF PROPOSED CONVEYANCE
OF UNITED METHODIST CHURCH PROPERTY
(Trinity United
Methodist Church)
Notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will, on or after November 8, 2024 QUITCLAIM, GRANT and CONVEY to the Trustees of Trinity Christian Church all of their right, title and interest in and to those certain lots or parcels of real estate situate, lying and being in the City of Parkersburg, Tygart District, Wood County, West Virginia, described as follows:
PARCEL ONE
All that certain lot, tract or parcel of real estate, except as to a certain deed made by Ann R. Tavenner to E.E. Florence, George W. Howard, M.L. Kopp, H.A. Langfitt and S.M. Yoho, Trustees of and for the South Side Methodist Episcopal Church, dated the 2nd day of October, 1925, of record in the Office of the Clerk of the County Commission of Wood County, West Virginia, in Deed Book 189, at page 20, and situate, lying and being in the City of Parkersburg, County of Wood, and State of West Virginia, more particularly bounded and described as follow
BEGINNING at a stone in a line of South Parkersburg, and corner to Wm. Moss; thence S. 78 E., crossing the county road, six and one-half (6-1/2) poles to a stone corner to a lot of land conveyed to A.B. Chancellor by John H. Foley and wife and C.D. Merrick and wife; thence S. 14 W. seven and one-half (7-1/2) poles to a stone corner to Devine lot; thence S. 87 W. about eight (8) poles to another corner of Devine lot in line of South Parkersburg; thence N. 17 E. eight and three-fourths (8-3/4) poles, with line of said South Parkersburg, to the place of beginning, containing fifty-nine (59) perches, be the same more or less.
And being the same property conveyed to the Trustees of the Trinity United Methodist Church from Trustees of the Trinity United Methodist Church by Confirmatory Deed dated June 6, 2011 and recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County Commission of Wood County, West Virginia in Deed Book 1171, at Page 532, reference to which is hereby made, and by Deed dated February 20, 1941 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 230, at Page 243.
PARCEL TWO
BEGINNING at a point on 50-foot street, now Neal street, in the line of Lot No. 7, formerly owned by the late Guy Tavenner, deceased, and running thence with said line N. 86* 20′ W. 150 feet to a 20-foot alley; thence with said alley on the line of said Roy Tavenner Lot No. 6, 113.21 feet to Sixth Street, now Seventh Avenue; thence with Sixth Street, now Seventh Avenue, 150 feet to said 50-foot street; thence with said new 50-foot street, now Neal Street, 113.68 feet to the place of beginning, containing one lot, be the same more or less.
And being the same property conveyed to the Trustees of the South Parkersburg Methodist Church from W. A. Fletcher, Jr., and Myrtle C. Fletcher, his wife by Deed dated November 5, 1947 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerks Office in Deed Book 303, at Page 454, reference to which is hereby made.
PARCEL THREE
BEGINNING at a stake in the west line of Thomas Street (formerly “A” Street), which stake is S. 14* W. 150 feet from Front Street, said stake being the southeast corner of a 50 foot lot belonging to C. B. Wilkinson et ux, and running thence with the west line of said Thomas Street (old call S. 14* W.)100 feet to a stake in said west line of Thomas Street; thence at right angles westerly 100 feet, more or less, to the westerly line of the R. W. Eagle 2-3/4 acre tract of land; thence with said line (old call N. 14-3/4* E.) 100 feet to a stake in said line; thence easterly with the south line of the Wilkinson lot 100 feet, more or less, to the place of beginning, containing one fourth (1/4) of an acre, more or less.
And being the same property conveyed to the Trustees of The South Parkersburg Methodist Church from R. W. Eagle and Minnie Mae Eagle, his wife by Deed dated April 4, 1952 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerks Office in Deed Book 389, at Page 242, reference to which is hereby made.
PARCEL FOUR
BEGINNING at a point in the west line of Thomas Street, which point is the southeast corner of a lot conveyed to the South Parkersburg Methodist Church, by Deed bearing date April 4, 1952, an running thence with the west line of said Thomas Street, 50 feet to a point; thence at right angles, westerly 100 feet, more or less to the westerly line of the R. W. Eagle 2 3/4 acre tract of land; thence in a northerly direction with said line to the southwesterly corner of the lot heretofore conveyed to the South Parkersburg Methodist Church, which Deed bears date April 4, 1952; thence at right angles along the southerly line of said lot in an easterly direction to the place of beginning.
And being the same property conveyed to Trustees of The South Parkersburg Trinity Methodist Church from R. W. Eagle and Minnie Mae Eagle, his wife by Deed dated May 12, 1955 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerks Office in Deed Book 389, at Page 244, reference to which is hereby made.
PARCEL FIVE
BEGINNING on the Westerly side of Thomas Street (formerly A Street), this being a street which runs in a southerly direction from Front Street, or Wood Street, extension along the line of the M. E. Church lot) 100 feet south of the southwest corner of the said Thomas Street (formerly A Street) and Front Street; thence at right angles running in a westerly direction with the line of said M. E. Church lot 100 feet; thence at right angles running in a southerly direction 50 feet; thence at right angles running in an easter) direction 100 feet to Thomas Street (formerly A. Street); thence with the line of Thomas Street (formerly A Street) running in a northerly direction 50 feet to the place of beginning.
And being the same property conveyed to Trustees of The South Parkersburg Trinity Methodist Church from C. E. Wilkinson and Stella B. Wilkinson, his wife by Deed dated August 22, 1955 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerks Office in Deed Book 392, at Page 82, reference to which is hereby made.
PARCEL SIX
BEGINNING at the northeast corner of Front Street (now 10th Avenue) and “A” Street (now Thomas Street) and running in a southeasterly direction with “A” Street (now Thomas Street) 140 feet; thence in an easterly direction with Oak Street (now 11th Avenue) 78 ½ feet to a stake in the line of the Baptist Church property; thence with the line of the said Baptist Church property l40 feet to the corner of the Baptist Church property and Front Street (now 10th Avenue); thence with Front Street (now 10th Avenue) 78 ½ feet to the place of beginning.
And being the same property conveyed to Trustees of Trinity Methodist Church of Parkersburg from Forest V. Arnett and Lucretia Arnett, his wife by Deed dated May 23, 1957 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerks Office in Deed Book 412, at Page 88, reference to which is hereby made.
Said Trinity United Methodist Church was declared closed effective on July 1, 2024 by a majority of the District Superintendents of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
