Notice is hereby given that Carter Roag Coal Company, 109 Appalachian Drive, Beckley, WV 25801 has a permit on file with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the surface mining of approximately 124.06 acres and has submitted an application to the DEP, 47 School Street, Suite 301, Philippi, WV 26416-1600, for renewal of Article 3 Permit Number S200319 to operate and maintain a coal surface mine with auger/highwall mining (within 100 feet of County Route 46) in the Sewell, Sewell A, and Sewell B seam of coal. The operation is discharging into Unnamed Tributaries of/and Left Fork Buckhannon River of Buckhannon River of Tygart Valley River of Monongahela River and is located 3.1 miles southeast of Helvetia in Middle Fork District of Randolph County, Longitude 80 degrees 08′ 36″ and Latitude 38 degrees 41′ 15″ (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).

Written comments and/or requests for an informal conference of the permit renewal application shall identify the applicant and application number and will be received by the Permit Supervisor at the DEP address above until 12/27/2024 or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication. A copy of the application will be available for review until 12/27/2024, or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication in the DEP Regional Office located at the address above and is available at:
