COMMON COUNCIL

CALLING THE BELINGTON
MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR
MARCH4, 2025
WHEREAS, Belington City Code 4-85 directs that, on the first Tuesday in 1987 and every two years thereafter on the first Tuesday in March, shall be elected by the qualified voters of the city a Mayor and one Council Member from Ward I, Ward II, Ward Ill, and Ward IV.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT:
The Belington Common Council hereby calls the 2025 Municipal Election and directs that the following information be made public by posting it in the lobby of city hall and within five days, by publishing it in a local newspaper:
“The 2025 Municipal Election will be March 4, 2023. On that date, a mayor will be elected for a two-year term, and one council member from Ward I, Ward II, Ward Ill, and Ward IV will be elected for a four-year term. Any citizen eligible to hold office and desiring to appear on the ballot must obtain from and file with the Belington City Clerk a CERTIFICATE OF ANNOUNCEMENT OF CANDIDACY accompanied by the appropriate filing fee. The fee for mayoral candidates is $25.00; the fee for council candidates is $10.00.
“The filing period will commence at 9:00 a.m. Monday November 18, 2024 and continue until 4:30 p.m. December 20, 2024. Certificate of announcement may be filed at City Hall with the Belington City Clerk during normal weekday business hours.
