NOTICE OF PROPOSED CONVEYANCE
OF UNITED METHODIST CHURCH PROPERTY
(Limestone United
Methodist Church)
Notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will, on or after January 10, 2025 QUITCLAIM, GRANT and CONVEY to the Trustees of Limestone Gospel Fellowship all of their right, title and interest in and to those certain lots or parcels of real estate situate, lying and being in Steele District, Wood County, West Virginia, described as follows:
PARCEL ONE
BEGINNING at a stone on the side of the old road where a hickory formerly stood corner to Wm. Beard thence with said Beards lines. 21 ½ W. 30 poles to a stone thence S. 68 ½ E. 10 2/3 poles to a stone thence N. 21 ½ E. 30 poles to a stone thence N. 62 ½ W. 10 2/3 poles to the beginning containing two acres.
And being the same property conveyed from George and Hepsey Stephens to the Board of Trustees of the M. P. church by Deed dated July 3, 1874 and recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County Commission of Wood County, West Virginia in Deed Book 55, at Page 369, reference to which is hereby made.
PARCEL TWO
BEGINNING at a post the southwest corner of the old church lot, also a corner to the 34-2/3 acre tract conveyed to Harry C. McPherson, and running thence with the westerly line of said old church lot N. 23 W. 60 feet to corner of the old or present church lot; thence same course N. 23 W. 96 feet to a stone near a water well; thence S. 78 E., passing two feet south of said well, 144 feet to a red oak; thence S. 54 E. 112 feet to a stone, an original corner of the tract of land of which this is a part; thence with the southerly line of said tract of which this is a part S. 72 W. 109 feet to the southeast corner of the old church lot; thence with a line of the same S. 72 W. 66 feet to the beginning containing 42/100 of an acre, more or less, in the aggregate of the old church lot and the new addition to the same, and shown on a map dated 6/16/09 by Pfalzgraf Surveying Project No. 061610609.
And being the same property conveyed to the Trustees of the Nicholson Chapel Methodist Church from Lucy M. Pfalzgraf, widow, Addie Lemix, widow, Clella Powell and Blaine Powell, her husband, being the heirs at law of Nora Simmons by Deed dated July 14, 1947 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerks Office in Deed Book 300, at Page 480, reference to which is hereby made.
Said Limestone United Methodist Church was declared closed effective on September 30, 2024 by a majority of the District Superintendents of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
