PUBLIC NOTICE OF CHANGE IN RATES UPON APPLICATION

NOTICE is hereby given that Union-Williams Public Service District (District), a public utility, has filed with the PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION OF WEST VIRGINIA, an application containing increased rates, tolls and charges for furnishing sanitary sewer service to approximately 1,820 customers in portions of Union Magisterial District of Wood County and Grant Magisterial District, Pleasants County, West Virginia.

The District proposes to increase rates in two steps. The proposed Step 1 increased rates and charges, effective for service rendered on and after June 15, 2025, will produce approximately $146,510 annually in additional revenue, an increase of 8.94% over current rates. The proposed Step 2 increased rates and charges, effective upon substantial completion of the District’s sewer upgrade project, will produce approximately $462,703 annually in additional revenue, an increase of 25.92 percent over the proposed Step 1 rates. The average monthly bill for the various classes of customers will be changed as follows:

Resale customers of the District include the Town of North Hills.

On June 10, 2025, the Public Service Commission issued an Order approving the Step 1 rates, on an interim basis, to go into effect for all service rendered on and after June 15, 2025, subject to refund.

The increases shown are based on averages of all customers in the indicated class. Each class may receive changes that are greater or less than average. Furthermore, the requested rates and charges are only a proposal and are subject to change (increases or decreases) by the Public Service Commission in its review of this filing. Any increase in rates and charges will not become effective until authorized and approved by the Commission. (If a hearing is scheduled, notice will be given of the time and place of hearing.)

Anyone desiring to protest or intervene should file a written protest or notice of intervention within thirty days, unless otherwise modified by Commission order. Failure to timely protest or intervene can affect your rights to protest any rate increases or to participate in future proceedings. Requests to intervene must comply with the Commission’s rule on intervention set forth in the Commission’s Rules of Practice and Procedure. All interventions may be mailed and be addressed to Executive Secretary, Public Service Commission of West Virginia, P.O. Box 812, 201 Brooks St., Charleston, West Virginia 25323, or hand-delivered. Protests may be filed online through the Commission website using the “Submit a Comment”link or may be mailed or hand-delivered to the Executive Secretary at the address above.
