WOOD COUNTY COMMISSION
HILL AVE WASTEWATER EXTENSION PROJECT
BROADBAND EXPANSION STUDY

The Wood County Commission proposes to apply to the West Virginia Development Office for 2020 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds under both the categories of Infrastructure and Broadband Development.

Under Infrastructure, the Commission proposes to submit the Hill Avenue Wastewater Extension Project application for $1,500,000 in CDBG funds. Construction of the Hill Avenue sewer collection system will include the installation of approximately 5,000 linear feet of 6″ and 8″ sewer, 31 manholes, and all necessary appurtenances. Twenty-one new customers will be provided with sewer service on Hill Avenue and Comer Street. This project funding is based on the benefit to Low-Moderate Income Households in the project area as determined by an income survey.

Under Broadband, the Commission will request $75,000 in CDBG funds to contract with an engineer to study and design how best to bring broadband internet to unserved and underserved households and businesses in Wood County, with a focus on serving Low-Moderate Income Households.

Both proposed projects will be discussed during a public meeting held on December 14th, 2020 at 10:00 AM in the Judge Black Annex. If you wish to participate remotely, please email [email protected] and a phone number or meeting link will be provided. If you need special accommodations or would like to submit written comments on these applications, please contact MOVRC at [email protected] or 304-422-4993 ext. 1050.
