The owner of 101 School Street, Grantsville, WV 26147 is requesting bids for structural steel fabrication and erection at their historic property in Grantsville.

Summary of Scope/Services
The project includes the fabrication and installation of structural steel on the interior of the original masonry walls to support a replacement roof system over the space. The work will also include the roof framing within the structural steel. The section to be enclosed is a two story structure with a first floor area of 2459 square feet.

The project includes:

Roof Structure Restoration:
1. Shop drawings of the structural steel package and steel roof framing designed in
accordance with plans provided by the Architect and Structural Engineer.
2. Fabrication of the structural steel to be erected at the site.
3. Erection of structural steel and steel roof framing on site.
4. All debris created by the project must be removed.

All work must adhere to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation as well as the regulatory requirements and standards for best practices.

The price shall include and cover the furnishing of all materials, labor, tools, material, and equipmentnecessary for the fabrication and installation of the structural steel and steel roof framing.

Qualifications

The contractor must have proof of the completion of three similar historic projects in the past four years that have complied with the Secretary of Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. The contractor must prove that they have the ability to complete the project in a timely manner and meet all deadlines set here within. The contractor must have the required licenses and insurances to execute the stated work.

The property will be open for a mandatory pre-bid walk- through on October 20, 2023 at 1:00 P.M.

All bids must be received no later than October 27, 2023 by 5:00 PM. Please send package via USPS to The 1982 Foundation, PO Box 82, Grantsville, WV 26147.

The Bid Submission must
include the following:

1. Letter of Interest detailing previous historic preservation experience and
understanding of the secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation
2. Lump sum for bid proposal on provided Bid Form
3. Three references from three individual previous historic projects.

The project completion date is no later than December 29, 2023 and will be reviewed by the West Virginia State Historic Preservation Office. Contractors will be selected based upon (1) cost, (2) experience with similar historic preservation projects, and (3) proven ability to complete a project. The contractor must carry out the described work in compliance with the Secretary of Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.

Source of Funding/Funding Requirements

Partial funds for this project are through the WV State Historic Preservation Office and all work must be approved by the SHPO prior to payment. All applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations apply.

Payment Process to the Successful Bidder:

Contractors will be paid for work completed. Contractors must allow approximately 4 to 6 weeks for payment of all invoices. Last payment will be held until work is completed and approved by the State Historic Preservation Office.
