NOTICE OF PROPOSED CONVEYANCE
OF UNITED METHODIST CHURCH PROPERTY
(Epworth United Methodist Church)

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will, on or after February 21, 2020 QUITCLAIM, GRANT and CONVEY to Shenandoah District of the Wesleyan Church, all of their right, title and interest, in and to the following described real estate situate in the City of Parkersburg, Wood County, West Virginia, more particularly bounded and described as follows:

Parcel One:

Beginning at a point on Central Avenue 165 feet from the northern corner of Myrtle Street and Central Avenue, and running thence in an easterly direction 55 feet on said Central Avenue; thence in an easterly direction 55 feet on said Central Avenue; thence in an easterly direction and parallel with Myrtle Street 170.6 feet to a twenty foot alley; thence with a line of said alley in a south easterly direction 55 feet to a point on the same; thence in a westerly direction and parallel with Myrtle Street 170.6 feet to Central Avenue, the place of beginning, and being all of lot 12 as shown on plan of Mrs. Clara Gilberts Subdivision on Lots in Edgewater Addition.

And being the same property conveyed to the Trustees of the Epworth Methodist Church, by Anna I. West, et vir, by deed dated the 12th day of August, 1952, and recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County Commission of Wood County, West Virginia in Deed Book No. 359 at page 9.

Parcel Two:

Beginning on the north side of Myrtle Street 140.6 feet easterly from Central Avenue; thence in a westerly direction with the line of Myrtle Street 30 feet to a stake; thence in a northerly direction and parallel with Central Avenue 110 feet to a stake; thence in an easterly direction and parallel with Myrtle Street, 30 feet to a stake; thence in a southerly direction and parallel with Central Avenue 110 feet to Myrtle Street, the place of beginning, being parts of Lots Nos. Nine (9) and Ten (10) of Gilbert’s Sub-division a plat of said sub-division being of record in the aforesaid Clerk’s office in Plat Book No. 2 at page 58.
And being the same property conveyed to the Trustees of the Epworth Methodist Church by Addie J. Yoho, et vir, by Deed dated July 12, 1955 and of record in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book No. 390, at page 513.

Parcel Three:

Beginning at point on Central Avenue, on hundred and ten (110) feet from the northern corner of Myrtle Street and Central Avenue and running thence in a northwesterly direction fifty-five (55) feet on said Central Avenue; thence in an easterly direction and parallel with Myrtle Street 170.6 feet to a twenty foot alley; thence with a line of said alley in a southeasterly direction fifty-five (55) feet to a point on same; thence in a westerly direction and parallel with Myrtle Street 170.6 feet to Central Avenue, the place of beginning and being all of Lot 11 as shown on plan of Mrs. Clara M. Gilbert’s Sub-division of lots in Edgewater Addition.
And being the same property conveyed to the Trustees of the Epworth Methodist Church, by A.R. Province, et ux by deed dated March 8, 1957 and of record in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book No. 408 at page 350.

Parcel Four:

Beginning at the northern corner of Myrtle Street and Central Avenue, and running thence in a Northwesterly direction with Central Avenue 110 feet to a point; thence in an easterly direction and parallel with Myrtle Street 110.6 feet to a point; thence in an easterly direction 110 feet to Myrtle Street; thence in a westerly direction with line of Myrtle Street 110.6 feet to the place of beginning, and being a part of Lots Nos. 9 and 10, in the plan of Mrs. Clara M. Gilbert’s Sub-division of Lots in Edgewater Addition as surveyed by B. F. Stewart.
And being the same property conveyed to the Trustees of the Fairplains Chapel Methodist Episcopal Church, South, by the Elberon Improvement Company, a corporation, by deed dated April 30, 1921, of record in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book No. 177, at page 407.

Parcel Five:

Being part of Lots Nos. 9 and 10 of Clara M. Gilbert’s Sub-division of Lots in Edgewater, a plat of which said sub-division is of record in the Office of the clerk of the County Commission of Wood County, West Virginia, in Plat Book No. 2, at page 58, and bounded and described as follows:

BEGINNING at a stake at southwest corner of Myrtle Street and a twenty-foot alley which runs between Camden Avenue and Central Avenue; thence in a westerly direction with the line of Myrtle Street 30 feet to a stake; thence in a northerly direction and parallel with Central Avenue 110 feet to a stake; thence in an easterly direction parallel with Myrtle Street 30 feet to the twenty-foot alley aforesaid; thence in a southerly direction with line of said alley 110 feet to the place of beginning. And being the same property conveyed to Okey A. Dotson by Melissa Lowers and Joseph Lowers, her husband, by Deed dated the 6th day of April, 1925, and of record in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book No. 187 at page 410.
And being the same property conveyed to G. T. McCutcheon, E. M. Riddle, Lee Tingler, J. E. Keesor, Michael Carvel, Carl Allio, J. E. Watkins, Samuel O. Ayers and Russell Reed, Trustees of the Epworth Methodist Church by deed dated December 26, 1963, of record in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book No. 485, at page 257.
Said Epworth United Methodist Church having been closed by the regular 2019 session of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
